New Zealand has significant and enduring strategic interests in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. These include peace, security, and effective governance, together with environmental, scientific, conservation, reputation, and economic interests.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is refreshing New Zealand’s statement of these interests (the previous statement was published in 2002).
