On and off the Ice – special projects, governance and volunteer roles in Antarctica
Volunteers in Antarctica

The Society, in partnership with Antarctica New Zealand, provides regular opportunities for Society members to undertake volunteer work in Antarctica over the Antarctic summer.

Applicants must have strong environmental values and health and safety awareness, must possess the personal qualities required to fit with a socially and professionally diverse range of people, and must be current members of the Antarctic Society.

“Our relationship with the New Zealand Antarctic Society has always been strong and this collaboration further benefits both organisations,” says Antarctica New Zealand Chief Executive Peter Beggs. “This opportunity is one way we can support the Antarctic Society and the important outreach work they undertake.”

Due to the major redevelopment of Scott Base being undertaken, the Society is unable to take applications for the 2017/2018 season. Please check back here in May 2018 for how to apply for the 2018/2019 season.
