Inspired by chatter in the VUW’s Geology Dept Chris applied for the role of Cargo Monitor with Antarctic Division, Dept of Scientific and Industrial Research, Wellington.

Gathering supplies, preparing lists, sailing south and working in Antarctica over the austral summer of 1960/ 1961 and riding dog hauled sledges.

Hear of his Antarctic experience, amongst his life of adventure hitch-hiking through Australia and India to the United Kingdom, working for BP in London, UK and Montreal and London Ontario, Canada. Working at Outward Bound in NZ and his continuing involvement with Forest and Bird, ECO and since 1992 botanical work with DOC, GWRC, WCC and local garden owners.
