Christchurch City Antarctic Walk

Date: 11 Oct 2020 - 11 Oct 2020
Time: 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Location:

Canterbury Museum, Rolleston Ave, Christchurch

Our Antarctic Gateway City boasts several Antarctic related points of interest. This 3.6 km guided walk starts at the Canterbury Museum with a tour through the Sir Robertson Stewart Hall of Antarctic Discovery. This is followed by an excursion into the Botanical Gardens to visit a key landmark in Antarctic exploration and then around central city streets where the group will stop at several points of interest to have the relevance of the Antarctic history and connections explained.

The Canterbury Branch of the NZ Antarctic Society, Youthtown and Lyttelton Museum are collaborating to give you a walk that aims to connect participants of all ages to our city’s Antarctic heritage! So, come along and discover what makes Christchurch an Antarctic Gateway City from both the old voices and the new.
