Tour details:
12.00pm at Main Gate, Karori Cemetery, Wellington
(where members of Shackleton’s 1914 expedition rest)

2.00pm Byrd Memorial, Mt. Victoria

2.45 pm Frank Kitts Park (plaque commemorating
HMSNZ Endeavour and Japanese voyager Kainan Maru).

NB. The Tour is planned to walking times but the No.2 Bus may be taken from Karori Cemetery to the Mt. Vic bus tunnel.

This coincides with the Tuia250 flotilla (HMB Endeavour replica) visit to Wellington to acknowledge James Cook as the first to circumnavigate Antarctica.

The tour will include introductions at each site on arrival and discussions about the importance of the Antarctic Treaty System (www.ats.aq),
a theme for next year’s talks.
